I actually graduated a few weeks ago but since I wasn’t ACTUALLY a graduate I didn’t want to post my pictures yet. NOW I am done with all of my school work and just waiting on the registrar to give me the ok. On July 13th I will OFFICIALLY have my Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from Touro University Nevada! YAY! Go me! Two years, thousands of hours of studying and a few new gray hairs later and I am ready so begin my new career!
Due to work, I have had the opportunity to visit New York City. I’ve had a week of meetings to attend, but I have been able to spare some time to explore a bit. Of course, I have my camera with me and I have been taking a lot of pictures. Feel free to take a look at the album below. It’s been a fun experience, and I cannot wait to return when I can bring my wonderful wife with me (who I’ve missed a great deal while I’ve been away).
We went out this past Friday night for Joe’s 29th birthday. We decided to go to Hofbrauhaus because it has good food, great beer, and a pretty fun atmosphere. Last night had more of a German frat party feel than normal, but at least it was entertaining (nothing quite like an oompa band play “sweet Caroline.”) Here are a few pictures from our night out for Joe’s last 20-something birthday!
WHAT AN AWESOME BIRTHDAY!!!
My loving husband went above and beyond for this one. What a way to ring in 30! First off he took me out to eat at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse which is one of my favorite places. Nothing quite like a perfect steak and some sautéed mushrooms to make a girl swoon! THEN he took me to a surprise party he had set up at…get this…Prive. It’s one of those fabulous Las Vegas clubs that host birthday parties for Paris Hilton and the like. A girl in my class is married to a guy who is a golf pro. He knows the guy who owns the club and was able to not only get us VIP entrance to the club, but also bottle service. For those who don’t know (which included me up until Friday night) it is where you purchase a bottle of vodka or other liquor which includes a table in the VIP section (places to sit are hard to come by in Vegas clubs) as well as security for your section (who will also escort you to the bathroom by plowing through the crowd), your own waitress and porter, and all the mixers you could want for your drinks. Bottle service runs between $300 and $500 per bottle depending on where you go. Because of our guy who knew a guy we got comp’ed (however you spell that) TWO bottles!!! Needless to say I felt pretty special. Then on my actual birthday he sent me flowers at work (although the company that was stupid and won’t actually get the flowers there until tomorrow) and brought me my birthday cake of choice…pecan coffee cake. All of this on top of helping bring Maggie out here for a week. I am so blessed to have a husband who goes to the ends of the earth for me! Here are a few pictures from one of my last nights in my 20’s!
The Georgia Gobles came to visit us for their 30th anniversary. What a blast! Unfortunately I had fieldwork so I couldn’t really hang out during the week. Joe had most of the week off for Passover so he was able to take them around and show them the sites.
Here they are at Red Rock Canyon, the M&M store, and the Wynn Hotel. (more…)
This past weekend Joe and I attended a very fun party celebrating Nicole’s birthday. It was held at a local Japanese restaurant that has private rooms specifically for…wait for it…karaoke! Here are some pictures from our tone-deaf night.
So holy crap we have been busy! Let’s begin with…
… our visit to the east coast. Everything started out wonderfully. We began at my dad’s house and got to catch up with two of my sisters. We also got to go catch up with all of the RAYD folks and had a blast.
Well, because I like to try and keep our installation of WordPress current, I attempted to upgrade to the latest version (2.6.3) today. I am still not certain at what point something went wrong, but the upgrade did not go nearly as smoothly as I would have liked. In the maelstrom, the our WordPress installation was completely corrupted and I had to reinstall everything. Fortunately, we did not lose the database that houses the content of all of our posts. However, the site’s theme stopped working and is currently beyond my desire to repair. That being said, the theme you see currently is temporary until we find another that we like (or until I am able to figure out why the old theme doesn’t work). Also, if the site is behaving strangely, it’s most likely a result of 2.6.3 and I am probably working on it.
Anyway, be sure not to miss Anna’s great post about recent happenings in our lives, it’s a lot more interesting than this post. ;-)
Update: Through some research, forum posting, and basic trial and error, I have been able to get our theme running again. We will have try to restore our images, but everything from this point on should be fine.
